Submission of Manuscript

• The manuscripts submitted for publication must be previously unpublished research works, which are not being considered for publication elsewhere.
• The manuscript, or a manuscript with substantially overlapping content, must not be under review by any other journal or conference at the same time. Simultaneous submission is prohibited, and the corresponding author must confirm at submission that the manuscript is not under consideration elsewhere and will not be submitted elsewhere until the decision of JMIS is communicated or the manuscript is formally withdrawn.
• Any preprint deposited on a recognized server and any earlier conference version of the work must be disclosed in the cover letter and cited in the manuscript.
• A manuscript that extends a paper previously presented at a conference or workshop with formally published proceedings must contain at least 30 percent new material that constitutes a genuine technical contribution, and the cover letter must include an extension statement describing what is new. Detailed criteria are provided on the Research and Publication Ethics page.
• All the authors must have agreed to the submission and to the order of their names on the title page.
• All the authors must also have agreed that the corresponding author may act on their behalf throughout the editorial review and publication process.
• The corresponding author is responsible for obtaining such agreement.
• The corresponding author must declare whether the manuscript involves human participants, human data, identifiable personal information or media, biometric identifiers, or animals.
• If ethics review was required, the submission must include the official name of the IRB, ethics committee, or IACUC, the approval or exemption number, and the approval date.
• When an approval or exemption number is reported, the corresponding author must also upload a copy of the IRB, ethics committee, or IACUC approval letter, exemption determination, or equivalent official certificate as a separate file at submission. The certificate must show the name of the reviewing body, the approved study title or protocol number, the approval or exemption number, and the approval date. Personal information that is not necessary for verification may be redacted, and a translation or an English summary must be provided if the certificate is not in English.
• If ethics review was waived or not required, the manuscript and submission must clearly state the reason and the relevant institutional or legal basis.
• If human participants were involved, the manuscript must include an Informed Consent Statement, or clearly state that consent was waived.
• If any identifiable image, audio, video, screenshot, or personal information is included, the manuscript must confirm that written consent for publication was obtained.
• The corresponding author must disclose whether generative AI or AI-assisted technologies were used in preparing the manuscript and must provide the tool name, version where available, and purpose of use.
• The corresponding author must disclose any related-party co-author at submission and provide any required personal-information consent and contribution details to the Editorial Office.
• All manuscripts must include the following headings before the References: Acknowledgement, Ethics Approval, Informed Consent Statement, Consent for Publication, Conflicts of Interest, Funding, Data Availability and Reproducibility, Declaration of Generative AI and AI-Assisted Technologies, and Related-Party Co-authorship Disclosure. If a heading does not apply, retain it and state Not applicable.
